Psychiatric unit of DGH Chilaw provides its services over 2000 patients per month. Main Responsibilities of the unit is to conduct Psychiatric Clinics, manage Psychiatric patients presented to PCU and Psychiatric patients admitted to medical wards.

Apart from that the unit conducts Peripheral clinics, assess and manage patients referred from OPD and Conduct mental health training and awareness programmed to health care workers.
