The units’ main function is to coordinate the programs with public health care institutions such as MOH office of the area and the RD office of the area. And we conduct programs to educate the general public too. Apart from that the unit collect data and analyze it for administrative decisions at top level.

Public health unit consists of one medical officer at DGH Chilaw.

The unit consist of public health inspector (PHI), Public health nurse and the supporting staff.
