The cardiology unit of the District general hospital Chilaw consists of cardiology clinic and recently opened cardiac ward. Main responsibility of the unit is to attend in to ward referrals, conduct clinics (cardiology and rheumatic heart disease), conduct 2D echo and carry out exercise ECGs.

Further this unit refers patients for coronary angiograms.
